Tonight's meditation session was on the topic: what to do when the flesh says "now" but the spirit of God within you says "wait". The reality is that there is nothing we can do to expedite God's timing but we can modify our behavior during the wait such that we don't make ourselves miserable. Worry, stress, and unnecessary contemplation will not make God move any faster than He already intended to. It does however taint your spirit and disrupt your peace. The manner of your Christian relationship is displayed by how your respond to God's unfavorable answers like "no" and "not now". Much like we disciple our children to maintain proper decorum when we don't give them what they want, God demands the same from us. So the answer to what do you do when God says wait is YOU WAIT!!!! Trying to do anything more is an ineffective use of your time and a distraction by the flesh to convince you God isn't working hard enough. When we try to create tasks during the wait that God did not assign is like telling God, "obviously you're not good at this so let me help you out." News flash, God didn't need your help to save you from your sins so He doesn't need your help to save you from yourself (the will you think is right but really isn't). God sees after the now so His pause isn't to punish you but to protect you from what lies ahead that's waiting to devour you. There is power in the pause and for that we should give God praise.
